Hi everyone!
Hope you had a splendid Christmas! Before anything else, I want to wish you all a very happy new year ! (*・∀・)/♡\(・∀・*) Thank you for always reading my random entries! hee~
Anyway, I’m so excited to share my new sketchpad review with everyone!
Got this at Fully Booked [Eastwood Branch] a few days back :)
It cost me Php 280.00 for 30 pages of high grade vellum paper ! Not bad at all (‘u’*)♪

If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram — it’ll be quite obvious that I enjoy inking and coloring with markers. A LOT.
I’ve been using CANSON pad (which is awesome, btw) since college days but I’ve also been trying out a lot of different sketchpads recently. This is by far my favorite for inking :) Marker pads are still the best for markers (duh)
I haven’t tried to ink on a sketchpad Moleskine since I only have the watercolor Moleskine variant. — Has anyone tried inking on the sketchpad Moleskine? Is it awesome? (*・_・)ノ

Look and Feel :
Rating : ★★★★★ (5/5)
• Very sleek and classy front cover material/design
( This is why I picked it up in the first place. It’s so aesthetically pleasing and handsome I’d buy it in a heartbeat). You’ll feel a sense of pride every time you pull it out and show people. heh. /Obviously a sucker for sleek designs.
• Cover isn’t like the regular pads — it’s very smooth but thick. I’m not sure what material is used — it looks like glossy plastic but with a matte feel.

• Last page is a hard cardboard sheet for extra durability (woohoo)
• Pages are VERY smooth and VERY white ( People who prefer textured paper might not like this; especially true for pastel/charcoal/paper/paint/watercolor artists ). This is definitely not a problem for me since I use markers and pigment ink most of the time. I’ve actually been looking for a sketchpad with smoother paper (compared to Canson) and a cheaper alternative to my Letraset marker pads (which are hella expensive! Php800+).

Basic Specifications:
Rating : ★★★★ (4/5)

• High grade vellum paper in white
• Unruled
• No perforation (Can’t peel off / remove pages | Pages stay intact )
• A4
• 80g/m2
• 21.3 lb
— Not sure if I’m happy that I can’t remove the pages. It’ll be a pain in the butt every time I need to scan something off the pages. But then again, I won’t have to trouble myself with random falling pages that peel off due to overuse and for whatever reasons.

Sample Sketch : Pencil Lead in Blue 0.7
Rating : ★★★★★ (5/5)

PERFECT. ∑(O_O;) Shock !
Comes off easily when erased and doesn’t leave any marks (unlike Canson). Only applies to people who sketch lightly of course. It’ll inevitably leave a mark if you sketch like there’s no tomorrow / heavy hand sketching.
* Why I use blue lead? — because it’s easier to trace over. I don’t get confused when I ink as opposed to using black lead (black over black)
* Brand of pencil and blue lead : Pilot ENO 0.7 (National Bookstore)

Sample Inking : Unipin in 0.005 | 0.1 | 0.2 | 0.5
Rating : ★★★★★ (5/5)

CAPS LOCK CANNOT FULLY EXPRESS MY UTMOST GLEE.
I am jumping up and down happy with this sketchpad! My unipins found their soulmate! Ink glides smoothly.
No thinning of paper or no residual fiber (? — HAHA I don’t know what it’s called) when I go over the same stroke several times.
Ink doesn’t fade as much as other sketchpads when I erase the blue lines lessening my inking time cause I don’t have to go over all the lines again.
If you’re fond of inking, this is the perfect pad for you! You will vomit rainbows.

Sample Coloring : Copic Markers
Rating : ★★★★ (4/5)

• Colors come out vibrantly
• Ink glides on smoothly on paper
• Blending is a bit harder since paper is thinner and it dries faster.

• Markers do not cause your pigment ink to bleed ( But please allow about 30 min - an hour prior to coloring to be sure)
• You can build up your color with the same shade of marker
• You have to work very quickly if you want flawless/transition free color blends (Use a marker pad if you want easier blending — however, this is a great alternative for practice and non-commission works)
• Marker will bleed on the back page like most pads so make sure you have a scratch paper underneath while you work.
